FAQ

How often and how long will I need to come?

You'll see improvement after just one session, but core recovery is usually not a "one and done" therapy. Most women experience dramatic change within 4 - 6 sessions, but each body is unique and your needs and goals may vary. Ultimately, how long you'll decide to visit me will depend on how long you've been living with dysfunction and pain, and how ingrained those unhealthy patterns are in your body and mind. Your commitment to practicing self-care at home will also influence the speed of change.

After the initial phase of your healing, I recommend regular tune-ups. Lifestyle, sedentary jobs, a new pregnancy. Many things affect your core function. You see the dentist twice a year to try to increase the chances of keeping your original teeth, and you take your car in for regular maintenance so it won't leave you stranded. Your body needs at least as much consideration and care. So, come back and visit me at least a few times a year, or every 3000 miles.

If you are coming for Feminine Core Care bodywork & coaching, each session is carefully designed to build on to the previous one, enhancing your benefits, increasing accountability, and guiding you toward complete core recovery. I recommend committing to 4 sessions, spread out every 2-4 weeks. By then, we'll be able to tell if this program will work for you, or if you'll need a referral to another practitioner.

What types of dysfunctions do you work with?

I help women with most types of core dysfunction and pain. Pregnancy, postpartum, and menopause discomforts, pelvic or low back pain, diastasis recti, abdominal adhesions or misalignment, infertility, digestive issues, sexual dysfunction, physical & emotional menstrual problems, and incontinence.

We will work together to get your body into optimal form. If it turns out you need more intense, or a different type of treatment, I will give you a referral to a trusted medical practitioner. Please contact me to discuss your unique situation.

What should I wear during my Women's Wellness Massage or Feminine Core Care session?

Women should wear a sports bra or tank top and gym shorts. Most areas can be accessed around or through this clothing. If it becomes necessary to move clothing to reach an area of the body (for example certain abdominal techniques, hip muscles, or ribs), you will be properly covered or draped at all times. Your comfort and modesty is very important to me. Only the area being worked on will be exposed. No areas will be exposed without your consent. And, you should always let me know if you are uncomfortable for any reason during our session.

What type of massage is included in Feminine Core Care?

Every Feminine Core Care session includes my signature Women's Wellness Massage.  I'll choose from everything in my toolbox including: myofascial release, Thai abdominal massage, thermal therapy, vacuum therapy & massage cupping, aromatherapy, hot stones. You may also choose to receive Facial Reflex Therapy, an extremely effective and relaxing facial reflexology treatment based on modern neuroscience. There are no up-charges. Everything is included in the price of your session.

What does it mean to be a licensed massage therapist?

A license means that a massage therapist has met the requirements and paid the fee to legally practice massage in his/her city, county and/or state. To obtain a license in North Carolina, a massage therapist must complete a minimum number of training hours at an accepted school, and will have to undergo a full background check prior to receiving that license.
